On Tuesday at the 98th Annual NAACP Convention in Detroit, actress Malinda Williams told her moving story about growing up the youngest of three girls and memories of her father’s commitment to raising them. Promoting the importance of a positive male figure in the development of young girls, Williams read her personal essay about the great life lesson’s her father taught her as a child. Her full essay can be read in the upcoming book “Daughters of Men: Portraits of African American Women and Their Fathers” (Amistad/HarperCollins), in bookstores November, 2007.
